About this color mixer

Online Color Mixer: mix real paint and light online

What colors make brown, green, purple or skin tones? Squeeze paint onto a 3D palette and watch the knife mix it: each paint is modelled by the light it reflects, so blue and yellow make green just as in real life, not the grey a simple screen average gives. Get the HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK codes, find the paint recipe for any color, play the matching game, and mix red, green and blue light.

How to use the colour mixer

  1. Ask a question such as “What colors make brown?”, the paints go on the palette, the knife mixes them, and the card explains.
  2. Mix your own: tap a paint tube, or use + and − on the Mixer tab. The result shows its HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK codes and its name.
  3. Recipe: type or pick any colour and the mixer finds the paints that make it. Try the matching game too.
  4. Light: switch to 💡 Light to mix red, green and blue spotlights.

Each paint is modelled by the light it reflects at every wavelength and mixed with Kubelka–Munk theory, so blue and yellow make green, as on a real palette.
